In December, RedEye got together with their clients, suppliers, employees and friends for an evening of fundraising for Cancer Research UK, the pioneers of life-saving research.
In the stunning surroundings of Hampton Court Palace guests enjoyed a lovely meal, entertainment and a live auction, where everyone put their hands in their pockets to bid on fabulous auction lots donated to the event by RedEye’s supportive clients. A special thanks to Interflora, Hotel Chocolat, Gala Bingo, Autoglym, Penhaligon’s, American Golf and Blue Chip Holidays.
Every penny raised by the Charity Ball is going straight to Cancer Research UK, and we’re delighted to announce that the grand total is £24,289.57.
This amount of money could fund a lung cancer trial for a year (£10,000) and five weeks of Cancer Chat, helping thousands through very difficult times (£3,000 a week). We’re so pleased the amount raised by this event can have a such a big impact.
Every guest on the night helped to raise this fantastic amount, through purchasing tickets, bidding on auction lots or simply putting money into one of the donation boxes.
Cancer Research UK pioneers life-saving research to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. From their volunteers and supporters to their scientists, doctors and nurses, they’re all here to save more lives and prevent, control and cure all cancers. Their pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has helped save millions of lives. Over the past 40 years survival has doubled, thanks to the great progress their research has made.
However, every two minutes someone in the UK is still diagnosed with cancer and every four minutes someone in the UK dies from cancer. The fight against cancer must continue.
Katie Hesketh, Local Fundraising Manager at Cancer Research UK said:
“We'd like to thank everyone involved with the RedEye Winter Ball for raising an incredible £24,289.57 for Cancer Research UK. They put so much effort into organising this wonderful ball which was a huge success for both the charity and RedEye. Not only have they raised this amazing amount they have raised a lot of cancer awareness and highlighted the importance of fundraising.
We receive no Government funding for our ground-breaking research, so money raised by supporters, like RedEye is crucial to help us beat cancer sooner. Research has led to an improved understanding of the biology and causes of cancer. This in turn has led to discovering better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease. With continued support from generous people and organisations like RedEye, we can find more cures faster to help even more people survive.”
Garry Lee, CEO at RedEye added:
“Cancer Research UK is a fabulous charity that is doing wonders in the fight against cancer, as well as supporting those already suffering, so I’m delighted to have them as our chosen charity and that the event we hosted has been able to raise such a large sum. RedEye has always tried to raise awareness and money for such great causes and it’s great to see the success of this event. I’d like to thank everyone that contributed in any way.”
