As an organisation growing at an increasingly quick pace, RedEye decided it was imperative to implement its first employee opinion survey in October 2015. RedEye has always been focused on employees, showcased in the extensive range of employee benefits now on offer and it was about time we heard the thoughts of those who know RedEye best!
Best Companies, a renowned organisation that measures employee engagement levels, conducted the survey using their methodology and questions, which are posed to every company they survey – which covers some 1.4 million UK employees. Best Companies measured the satisfaction of RedEye employees, including satisfaction with the leadership, the management and career development. Overall engagement was also measured alongside the identification of any areas for improvement. With a massive 84% of RedEye employees responding, we got a very accurate view of what our employees really think about us!
To help benchmark themselves against other similar organisations, every organisation looking to achieve a Best Companies Accreditation is given a Best Companies Index score (BCI), which determines your star rating! RedEye are pleased to announce we achieved a two star rating, giving us an ‘Outstanding’ status.
What did RedEye do particularly well on:
People wanting to stay at RedEye: 81%
Love working for RedEye: 80%
Proud to work for RedEye: 85%
People believing they have a positive future ahead at RedEye: 80%
Following on from the fantastic response we had from the initial survey, RedEye has run a number of employee focus groups. This feedback will be used to shape an action plan which will be addressed over the next 12 months, to make working for RedEye even better!
Head of HR, Scott Young said:
“Over the past two years we’ve nearly doubled our number of employees to 160. We’ve made a deliberate effort to retain what makes us unique and special at the same time as growing. In the past year we’ve halved employee turnover, launched industry-leading benefits and invested heavily in career development”.
“Our employees have defined a bold set of values that really reflect what we’re like. For example, we cut out the crap, meaning we are straightforward and open with both our employees and our clients”. Scott continued, “Every month our CEO answers any questions employees have in a face-to-face business update, we have a funded social committee who arrange fun activities throughout the year and employees can nominate each other for outstanding achievements”.
One of the team’s biggest achievements in 2015 was winning Hack Manchester. RedEye beat 75 other teams from top digital and technology businesses across the North West in a ‘Hackathon’, winning with a combination of collaboration, innovation, and clever coding – and it was the first time RedEye entered!
